Khi chấm bài writing của các bạn học viên, có một số lỗi chúng ta hay mắc dẫn đến việc khó đạt điểm cao trong Writing. Các lỗi phổ biến được tổng hợp lại dưới đây, hi vọng sẽ hữu ích cho các bạn
1. SUBJECT-VERB AGREEMENT: thường là ko chia động từ phù hợp
SỬ DỤNG VERB SỐ ÍT VỚI:
- any of/none of/ the majority of/all of/ some of + uncountable noun
- one of + plural noun/pronoun
- the number of + plural noun
- every/each of + singular noun
- everyone/everybody/everything
- a measurement, amount of quantity
Sử dụng VERB số ít, mặc dù trong một số văn cảnh ít FORMAL thì có thể sử dụng VERB số nhiều:
– any of/ each of/ either of/ neither of/ none of + plural noun/pronoun.
SỬ DỤNG VERB SỐ NHIỀU VỚI:
- a/the majority of + plural noun
- a number of + plural noun
- all of + plural noun
- some of + plural noun
Ví Dụ: SỰ KHÁC BIỆT GIỮA “A NUMBER OF” VÀ “THE NUMBER OF”.
🍀 Thứ nhất, cả hai cụm này đều đi với danh từ số nhiều, vì vậy tuyệt đối không dùng với “knowledge”, “water”, “pollution” hoặc những danh từ không đếm được.
🍀 Thứ hai, “a number of + Plural noun” được coi như là một danh từ số nhiều, vì vậy chúng ta dùng với verb số nhiều:
“There ARE a number of people”.
“Có nhiều người”.
“A number of poeple EAT fast food on a regular basis”.
“Nhiều người ăn nhanh thức ăn nhanh thường xuyên”.
🍀 Ngược lại, “the number of + Plural noun” được coi như là một con số, vì vậy phải dùng với verb số ít:
“The number of cars IS 15”.
“Số lượng xe là 15”.
2. CONTRACTION: không được viết tắt trong bài viết nhé
VD: I can’t, she doesn’t, I won’t –> I cannot, she does not, I will not
3. Punctuation: đặc biệt là việc sử dụng dấu “;” để tách 2 mệnh đề của câu
Ví dụ Lỗi dùng dấu phẩy ở những câu có 2 mệnh đề.
Quy tắc như sau:
1. Khi có những từ while, whereas (đầu câu hoặc cuối câu), luôn có dấu phẩy giữa 2 mệnh đề.
2. Khi có những từ and, but, so ở giữa câu, luôn có dấu phẩy giữa 2 mệnh đề.
3. Khi có những từ since, as, because ở đầu câu, luôn có dấu phẩy giữa 2 mệnh đề.

4. RELATIVE CLAUSE:
Đặc biệt hay mắc lỗi khi sử dụng reduced clauses. Chủ động thành V-ing, bị động thành -ed
5. RUN-ONS
Tổ hợp của một loạt các câu đơn ghép lại với nhau tạo thành câu phức, câu ghép hoặc câu ghép phức.
6. CÁC CẶP TỪ HAY NHẦM LẪN
RISE VÀ RAISE; BECAUSE VÀ BECAUSE OF, FOR EXAMPLE VÀ SUCH AS, LACK VÀ LACK OF, AFFECT VÀ EFFECT
